The Dark Stars Cocktail
Cheap Bourbon and killer hangovers
I’m trailing through cocktail-making websites to find the perfect Dark Stars Cocktail. I think I may found it in Complete Cocktails
Aptly named Dark Star Cocktail, it has a nice blend of ingredients: Coffee Liqueur gives a dark velvety texture along with the Butternut Schnapps, but the Bourbon is a definite no-no.
We all have smells that takes us back to an era in our life – sometimes a fond memory of childhood like the smell of freshly cut grass on a Sunday. The smell of Bourbon takes me back to a certain time and place when the Bourbon shots were being washed down by the dozens!
That aside, I would try rum perhaps. Maybe even good ole Kraken Rum. Together with the coffee liquor and hot coffee you can add a pinch of cinnamon to your potion. Voilà!

Enjoy your new Dark Stars Cocktail with complementary sounds: First up we have the legendary Serge Gainsbourg and the wonderfully sultry vixen, Brigitte Bardot. This song has a timeless ‘rock n roll’ motif with a tantalising hi-hat cymbal. Gainsbourg takes the poem written by Bonnie Parker, one half of the notorious Bonnie and Clyde duo, and reworks it with music. A process that inspires and shapes my writing of The Dark Stars lyrics. In doing so, words/lyrics take on new dimensions.

You could go and put on Velvet Underground & Nico (and I would probably do the same), however if we were to stay with our French theme our next record would be……. Gillian Hills. Now I have to admit, I had not heard of Gillian until I saw Mad Men Season 5 Episode 1 titled “A Little Kiss” – the one where Megan throws Don a surprise birthday party. This tune is delicious and works well with another sip of your Dark Stars cocktail!

And for the grand finale we have some guitar-tastic licks and tricks by Freddie King.
